“Research Journal of the University of Gdansk. Transport Economics and Logistics” is a meritorious continuation of "Research Journal of the University of Gdansk. Economics of Inland Transportation" issued since 1971. Due to system transformation, for several years a lot of articles on logistics and transport economics have been published in the journal as research results of substantive changes from single transport mode point of view into more holistic solutions, seen in transport economics and logistics. To reflect the changes a new subtitle “Transport Economics and Logistics” appeared at the journal in 2012. Nowadays, it contains original articles published on the transportation, logistics and forwarding issues from the economics point of view, especially on the market, efficiency, functionality, management, infrastructure, modeling, analysis, strategy, cases, concepts, methods and instruments. The above issues are profiled substantially into several research areas, especially transport economics; transportation market, forwarding and logistics services; modeling logistics processes and systems; development and functioning of transport and logistics systems, which are reflected in the subtitles of individual published numbers of the paper. This journal has been issued at the Faculty of Economics under the scientific edition of five Chairs of Transportation and Logistics. Their thematic scopes are as follows.

The Chair of Logistics invites to publish original and case manuscripts in the field of logistics. Because logistics is still a relatively new science discipline and area of reality, it has got a lot of faces. It is defined usually as a management, integration, coordination, or planning, organizing and controlling the flow of goods, information, people or money, if asking an academic teacher, but in response from logistics manager the real task of delivering goods can be formulated above all. To these two, regulatory and real, pictures of logistics, the third one can be added - educational. Therefore, they can stand for the framework for all kinds of topics on logistics. Especially, the journal published by Chair of Logistics covers subjects focused on logistics ideas, methods and tools; all aspect of supply chain management, warehousing, procurement, distribution, recycling; applications of information and communication technology at logistics; measures and indicators of logistics activities performance; cases on business logistics systems, processes, events, relations, resources. We are also open for new ideas and propositions.
